South Haven is fortunate to have seven public beaches or access sites.

The North and South Beaches are the largest and most frequently used. Both have concession stands, restrooms, play equipment, and parking areas. South Beach has the big red lighthouse. North Beach is set up for volleyball games. Packard Park offers restrooms, grills and picnic tables. The other beach access sites do not offer any amenities other than sun, sand, and Lake Michigan.

South Beach is the sole public beach on the south side of the river. North Beach and the other beaches can be found on the north side. Parking fees collected through the "park and pay program" are used to operate the beach cleaner, providing the public with the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in Southwest Michigan.
To avoid fines, be sure to observe parking restrictions at the beaches. We hope you enjoy your day at the beach!

Sec. 58-89. Closing hours of beaches:

(a) The North Beach and South Beach in the city and their bordering parking lots shall be closed from 11:00 p.m. to daylight to public gatherings, including beach parties, reunions, festivals and all other events. All other municipal beaches and parking lots shall be closed from 10:00 p.m. to daylight.

Sec. 58-85. Animals:

(a) No person shall permit any animal to run at large within the public parks, nor allow any dog therein except when led by a leash. No animal shall be led or ridden onto any portion of a sand beach of a public park. Sand beach shall mean that portion of lake, river or other water frontage not surfaced for street or sidewalk use.
